She is a Certified Christian Counselor regulated by the Georgia Board of Christian Counselors and Therapists. Our Waves Graphic Design Workshop is a 10-week program to be held at Central Georgia Technical School on the Warner Robins campus, from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm, beginning Wednesday, January 22nd and ending Wednesday, March 25, 2019. All students will need to be picked up promptly at 6:30 pm. Merlene Guadalupe is a master level educator and will be the instructor for this workshop that will be held in the computer lab in the Continuing Education Building /Office of Economic Development Building. If you have any questions about the facilities, all inquiries can be directed to Dianne Eppler at (478) 218-3327.
This workshop is available for ages 13-22, who have not graduated from high school. This is a basic workshop, exploring a Word program leading to basic skills to create designs, logos, and a tri-fold brochure. It will also offer basic job skills for the students to help them seek employment or lay the ground work for further educational workshops that may be offered. The workshop is open to all abilities to give students an opportunity to further their education and to plant the seeds of inclusion for future workshops and a possible long term partnership with CGTC.
While we will have two peer mentors on sight in addition to the instructor, a parent, guardian, or respite provider is required to accompany their student if they are in need of individual instruction. All materials and supplies will be provided to all students for the duration of the 10-week workshop. In the 10th week students will be asked to participate in a job experience, giving the students an opportunity to learn important job skills.
Registration is open until January 20th and all fees must be paid in full prior to the beginning of the workshop, unless prior arrangements have been made. All fees are non-refundable in the event that a student is unable to attend for any reason.
Respect and safety are critical to benefit from this Graphic Design Workshop at CGTC. In the event a child or young adult is having difficulty with aggression or emotional regulation, it may be necessary to miss a class. We will do all we can to offer instructions that the student can work on at home until they are ready to return to the workshop. If a child or young adult is experiencing debilitating sensory issues, it may be recommended for your child or young adult to withdraw from the workshop. All fees paid are non-refundable, but we will offer missed assignments for home study. We are committed to working with each family and desire to provide the best care that we can offer.
By completing registration, you agree to hold harmless Shelley L. Spivey, MA, Waves Autism Center, including all staff and peer mentors from any damages or losses of any kind, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of the applicants and/or child’s participation in this program.
